Orange Stain Icon Tutorial Intro

There are many different icon effects to apply to your icon, and this one will show you how to apply an orange colour to your icon.

Orange Stain Icon Tutorial

1. Have your icon base ready. If you want, grab one from here. I will be using:

2. Apply a gradient of #F68B1F and #F7ECAF. Drag it from the bottom left corner to the top right corner, or however you want. Set the blend mode to Hue.

*If you like your icon the way it is now, feel free to leave it that way. The next couple steps are optional.

3. Now it isn't as red as we want it to be, so make a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N) and fill it with #F68B1F.

4. On the same layer, add a layer mask. It's located in your layers palette, on the bottom. It's the second icon with a picture of a rectangle and a white circle in the middle.

5. Take your gradient tool and drag it from the top right area to somewhere a little past the middle in the same direction. You can keep doing it again until you think it looks right. It's very much like blending, and see the tutorial if you need help on blending.

6. Adjust the gradient as desired. Set the layer to Saturation. Finished!
