There are many different icon effects to apply to your icon, and this one will show you how to apply an blue colour
to your icon.
Blue Stain Icon Tutorial
1. Have your icon base ready. If you want, grab one from here. I will be
using:
2. Duplicate the layer with Ctrl + J. If your image is a little blurry or fuzzy, sharpen it a bit with Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen.
On the second duplicated layer (make sure it's on top), apply Gaussian Blur with Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Set the
radius to 2.0 pixels. Set the blurred layer to Overlay.
3. Make a new layer and fill it with #539DE3.
4. On the same layer, add a layer mask. It's located in your layers palette, on the bottom. It's the second icon with a
picture of a rectangle and a white circle in the middle.
5. Take your gradient tool and drag it from the top right area to somewhere a little past the middle in the same direction.
You can keep doing it again until you think it looks right. It's very much like blending, and see the tutorial
if you need help on blending.
6. Set the layer to Screen. Finished!
